These days singles tend to be used as a calling card, rather than a commercial venture, though if they sell well no one
is going to complain. What the Callaghan EP says, and says very loudly, is "Hi I'm Callaghan, take notice."
The EP kicks into life with "It Was Meant To Be" a punchy acoustic pop song that confidently highlights Callaghan's talent
and determination. Without ever sounding arrogant the song delivers verve and energy as it proclaims the arrival of the
rest of the EP.
It gives the other three tracks something to live up to and they manage it well, particularly the more countryesque "Whatever
I Want"
It's an EP that seems to gain strength as it progresses. There some neat vocal touches. Callaghan has a voice that carries a smile
you get the feeling of an artist that is really enjoying what she's doing, it helps give the tracks an infectious quality that drags
you back for more
I've long since realised that talent is not necessarily a ticket to success, but I think Callaghan is an artists to keep an ear out for.
Hopefully there'll be an album soon to take things a stage further.
